From Gritworks to Bawcro Gritting Services:
How Our Story and Services Evolved

Every business has a beginning. Ours started with a shovel, one grit bin, and a clear goal: to keep local driveways and walkways safe when winter hit. Back then, we were called Gritworks Ltd, a name that perfectly captured our purpose.

From day one, we focused on dependable gritting solutions and as more people saw the results, word began to spread. What began with early morning visits to icy homes soon grew into a full scale operation supporting businesses and entire neighbourhoods. Over time, we proved just how well gritting works when it’s done with consistency, care, and local knowledge.

As we expanded, it became clear that we were offering more than just basic winter maintenance. Our clients needed broader, more responsive services. That’s when we took the next step forward and the Bawcro Group was born.

Why we evolved from Gritworks Ltd

The name Gritworks served us well in the early days. But with growth came a need for a stronger, more versatile brand, one that could represent not just one service, but an evolving group of businesses committed to safety, reliability, and results.

Today, we operate under the Bawcro Group, which includes:

• Bawcro Gritting Services: 24/7 gritting and snow clearance, full service winter risk management, salt supply, bin refills, route monitoring, and emergency response.
• Bawcro Pest and Vermin Control: Effective, discreet solutions for rodent, insect, and pest problems across commercial and residential properties.

This group structure allows us to serve larger organisations and commercial partners with a comprehensive approach to risk management and site safety, all year round.

What Hasn’t Changed: Our Core Values

We’ve expanded our services, team, and coverage, but the standard remains the same. Every route we plan, every surface we treat, and every call we respond to is grounded in the belief that gritting works best when planned in advance and delivered with care.

We still approach our work with the same attention and urgency that defined our earliest days. It’s a mindset we carry with us into every contract, every winter season.
